What introduction does this need? 'Defying Gravity' from the musical (and film) 'Wicked'. Transcribed in an easier key (D major, with brief moments in D minor and C) to make this manageable for a quartet of cellists between grade 3 and grade 5. The upper part (mostly melody) only goes to B an octave above the open A string. Parts 2 and 3 have some interest and shadowing of the tune, whilst part 4 (which can be played on bass too) has a simpler rhythmic approach. Great for school cello ensembles.
